Cleveland Guardians place LHP Anthony Goss on IL, RHP James Karinchak activated

CLEVELAND – Parent reliever James Karinchak has returned to Cleveland after being sidelined for the entire season due to shoulder strain during spring training.

Karinchack was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday after the Guardians placed left-hander Anthony Goss on a 15-day injured list with a triceps strain.

Hard-throwing Fart gave up four runs and two hits in Cleveland’s 13-4 defeat in Saturday’s doubleheader first game against the New York Yankees.

“It’s not serious,” said pitching coach Carl Willis before the Guardian tried to avoid being carried away. “Now these are things that sometimes take days to show what they really are. Hopefully in two to three days and he’s fine, we can start a program to get him back soon. ”

The parents will play their third doubleheader in six days in Detroit on Monday and may be short in the bullpen, so they brought in Karinchak, who was active since the 60-day IL, and was selected for Columbus on Friday.

Karinchak, 26, who is used to setting up and closing, never thought his injury would be something long-term.

“We’ve had some unfortunate things happen, but I’m healthy now and it’s a blessing and a blessing for all the coaches and everyone I’ve met here,” he said. “I’m so thankful.”

Parents are encouraged by the recent performance of Karinchak, who led 7-4 last season with a 4.07 ERA and 11 saves.

His last three innings have been really good, Willis said. “It simply came to our notice then. I don’t know if it would have been remembered today if it weren’t for the state of the schedule and the state of the goose.

“He was getting very close. But we wanted to see him a little more consistent. But he’s definitely moving in a positive direction.”
