LONDON – Harmony Tan’s partner Tamara Corpus has publicly protested Tan’s last-minute withdrawal to bring peace to the couple.
In a follow-up post on his Instagram story on Thursday, Corpus said the two spoke and cleared the air.
“He has now given me an explanation of his injury and we have already apologized to each other,” Korpach wrote. “In fact, I will delete my previous post about this situation. And I will tell him not to write bad comments, not to insult him! ”
Tan decided to withdraw from the doubles, in which she and Karpash were scheduled to play a first-round match on Wednesday, after a three-set marathon win over Serena Williams on Tuesday night due to a knee injury. The corps claimed that Tan had given him a message an hour before the start of the match.
“I didn’t deserve it,” Corp. said Wednesday. “He asked me before the match if we wanted to play doubles and I said yes, I didn’t ask him, he asked me! If you have a breakup after 3 [hour] Match the day before, you can’t play professionally. That is my opinion. ,
Corpatch was already out of singles and was about to make her Grand Slam doubles debut. She said she was “very sad, frustrated and very angry” at the turn of events.
The 27-year-old has since deleted the original post on his Instagram account.
Tan has said nothing publicly on the controversy. She will play 32nd seed Sara Soribes Tormo in the second round on Thursday.
