1 Virat Kohli
The former Indian captain took a break after IPL 2022 and was not part of India’s series against South Africa. Everyone was of the opinion that Kohli should be given a break to regain his composure and resume his journey for the big runs he had stumbled for some time. Perhaps, the break would have relieved him a bit and Ireland is not a strong contender and an easy environment would be the right place for him to return to top flight cricket.

2 Rohit Sharma
The Indian captain was also given a break after IPL 2022. The competition was tough for them as Mumbai Indians could not reach the knockout stages and Rohit himself could not score a half-century in the entire tournament. So, this break and some family time would have given him some rest and the regular captain could resume his duties in the least format. He will also be in England for this lone Test.

3 Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson had a great performance in IPL 2022 as a captain and batsman. Sanju led the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL final and was one of the highest run scorers in the tournament. There were calls for him to be included in the squad for the home series against South Africa, but he could not get a place as the selection committee was trying. But for the Ireland series, Sanju is likely to find a place in the squad as the Mandarins will be eager to see him in action until the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup.

4 Rahul Tripathi
Tripathi was impressive enough for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022, scoring over 400 runs in 14 matches, one of the few bright beacons in an otherwise disappointing season. But more than that, the impact he made from those runs was impressive, the strike rate was 158. Tripathi often led SRH’s innings and tried to include him in India’s squad for the SA series at home. However, Tripathi did not get it as the selectors stuck to the names of the veterans. The big ones can give him a run in the series against Ireland as the Indian middle order has not played well in the series against South Africa so far.

5T Natarajan
During Umran Malik’s favorite storm, his teammates in SRH T Natarajan sat back. Although Natarajan has taken 18 wickets in 11 matches and his economy rate is at 9.4, this fast bowler can add an extra dimension to the attack – left-arm fast. With bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hershal Patel, etc. in the same mold, India need a breakaway as their fast attack looks a bit one-dimensional.
