Kyle Hendricks of Chicago Cubs comes out early with a shoulder injury, set for further investigation

MILWOOKY – Chicago Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendrix missed Tuesday’s match against the Milwaukee Brewers after just three innings due to a shoulder injury.

This was Hendrix’s shortest start of the season with 16 runs.

“We’ll see the doctor and see how he presents tomorrow,” Cubs manager David Ross said after the 8-3 win.

Hendrix said he was feeling well before the game, but as soon as he threw his first practice pitch he could tell that something was wrong.

“There’s no point in pursuing it,” Hendrix said. “It’s not so bad that it gets out of control, but it’s not good. It’s something I definitely have to check.

Cubs pitching staff including Marcus Strowman, Drew Smiley, Wade Miley and Alec Mills are already at full capacity on the injured list.

Hendrix allowed Rowdy Teles to give Homer two runs in the first inning, but his pace was a little slower than usual but he didn’t miss any more. He threw 69 pitches, hit four and hit two shots and two walks.

Hendrix, 32, is 4-6 this season with an ERA of 4.80. He had scored a total of two runs in 13 innings before Tuesday’s game.
