Another former Chicago Bears player is heading to the Atlanta Falcons.
Defensive lineman Eddie Goldman, who left the Bears in March, signed a one-year deal with the Falcons on Wednesday. Atlanta omitted the safety of Brad Hawkins in the relevant move.
Goldman, who signed with the Falcons this off-season, is the sixth former Bears player to join Damien Williams, wide receivers Damier Bird, offensive linemen Jermaine Ifadi and Elijah Wilkinson and defensive back Tees Tabor.
Ryan Paes, the former general manager of the Bears, who was sacked by Chicago last season, is now a senior executive at the Falcons.
Goldman twice joined the defensive line depth charts led by Grady Jarrett, a two-time Pro Bowl selection from Atlanta, and also featured defensive tackles from Anthony Rush and Vincent Taylor. The Falcons base plays 3-4 defensive plans.
Goldman, 28, had two years left in his contract when he saved 6.66 million beers in cap space.
Goldman was a key player in Chicago’s 3-4 plans as a run-stopping nose tackle. In 2018, he signed a four-year deal worth ₹ 2 million and was selected as an option in the Pro Bowl a year later.
Concerned about Covid-1 customers, he opted for the 2020 season and missed the first three matches of the previous season due to injury. In total, he appeared in 14 games, including 10 starts last season.
A second-round pick for the Bears in the 2015 draft, Goldman has 13 sacks and 175 tackles in 81 games.
